Guillem Romeu: “With our preventive system, we can avoid incidents before they occur”

We interview the head of Installations at ISERN Medical, who is responsible for coordinating the various actors involved in the maintenance of the equipment and systems installed in hospital rooms, without interfering with patient care activities.
What are your main tasks as head of installations at ISERN, and how do you think they contribute to the overall functioning of the company?
I am dedicated to coordinating the assembly. When the client awards us a project, we determine the infrastructure and material needs. We contact all the actors involved in the assembly, both from the hospital and from ISERN Medical, and carry out the installation while minimizing interference with the center's patient care activities.
What are the peculiarities of coordinating so many different actors?
The goal is to minimize the time spent in the room. For this, the key is to coordinate very well with all the people involved: from IT, maintenance, management... The key is to have everything ready before entering the room to have the least possible impact on the patients.
Is any special quality needed to do this job?
Patience is important, as well as being able to navigate and express yourself well. To coordinate effectively with everyone, you have to know how to treat people well.
How do you manage preventive maintenance and emergency interventions?
When there is an incident, we act quickly, minimizing the impact on the patient. We conduct preventive maintenance when there is no patient in the room or when the disturbance is minimal. We take the opportunity to check how everything is. In this case, the objective of these preventive visits is to reduce future incidents. With the preventive system we have in place, we can avoid problems before they arise.
You have also implemented systems that allow you to resolve incidents remotely, right?
With the system we currently have, we can carry out many actions remotely on the televisions and points of sale. We can update and change channels, restart the TV, configure it...
What are the most common incidents?
Many times, they are not incidents per se but user doubts that are resolved by phone or remotely. Another common type of incident is related to remote controls, either because they can't find them or because they ended up in the laundry with the sheets, accidentally.
What does it mean to work at ISERN Medical?
It is a challenge to coordinate several people to ensure everything goes well. The truth is that they make it very easy for me because there is a very professional team at ISERN Medical. We are all very well synchronized, and that helps things go smoothly.
